Missed out on "Cash for Clunkers?" Great news
Texas drivers, if your car is over 10 years old or has failed an emissions test,
you may be eligible for the AirCheckTexas program and receive up to $3,500 for
your vehicle!
The AirCheckTexas Program, also known as
Drive a Clean Machine, is a Texas Commission of Environmental Quality program
established to remove older, more polluting vehicles from Texas
roadways.
Residents of these participating counties may be eligible: Brazoria,
Galveston, Ft. Bend, Harris and Montgomery. Recipients must meet income
requirements and vehicles must meet certain conditions. Visit the TCEQ's
website for all requirements on the program and to apply for a
voucher:Drive a Clean Machine
program.

Your vehicle may be eligible
if:
- registered in your participating county for the 12 consecutive
months preceding your application, and
- passed a Texas
motor-vehicle safety and emissions inspection within 15 months of your
application and driven under it's own power to the dealership
- failed an emissions
test
OR - vehicle is at
least 10 years old and gasoline powered
- driven under it's
own power
- registered in
your participating county for the 12 consecutive months preceding the
application, and
- passed a DPS
motor vehicle safety inspection or emissions inspection within 15 months of the
application

Vehicles
eligible for purchase include: *model year changes as of September 1,
2010
- 2011-2008 cars, SUVs, and vans
- 2011-2009 trucks,
and
- 2011-2010 hybrid
vehicles
*vehicle cannot exceed $25,000 before tax,
title and license and must be Federal Tier 2 Bin 5 or
cleaner vehicle (see list)
